Public Hearing on Whiteface Mt. Repairs

WILMINGTON, N.Y. (AP) —

State transportation officials are holding a public information meeting this week regarding the Cuomo administration’s plans for a $12 million road project on Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks, a popular vacation spot for camps and families.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced last month that state will repair the Veterans’ Memorial Highway on the mountain, home to a ski resort and a popular scenic tourist spot near Lake Placid. Construction is expected to start in the spring and take one or two seasons.

The Department of Transportation has scheduled a public information meeting Wednesday night to discuss the plan, at the Whiteface Mountain Base Lodge, located on Route 86 in Wilmington.
