Top de Blasio Deputy Mayor Familiar Face to Jews

NEW YORK

Former city finance and housing commissioner Abraham Biderman praised mayor-elect Bill de Blasio for naming Anthony Shorris to serve as his first deputy mayor, who supervises all city agencies with the exception of police and schools. A member of the board of trustees of Agudath Israel, Biderman worked with Shorris in the Koch administration.

“He very much understands our community,” Biderman said. “He is knowledgeable, competent and deals well with the issues.”
