Rep. Engel to Chair Global Jewish Lawmakers’ Group

NEW YORK

Rep. Eliot Engel, a veteran Bronx Democrat, will be appointed the new chairman of the International Council of Jewish Parliamentarians at their next meeting on Dec. 2, the group, a branch of the World Jewish Congress, announced. The informal association of Jewish elected lawmakers from around the world meets periodically to discuss key issues of concern to world Jewry. Engel will succeed former Italian MP Fiamma Nirenstein.
