2 Salafi-Jihadists Killed in Counter-Terror Operation
An imminent terror attack by Salafi-jihadists in the Chevron area was thwarted by Israeli security forces on Tuesday in a shootout in which two armed Palestinians were killed, The Jerusalem Post reported.
During the course of a counter-terror operation, the Palestinian suspects were caught in a car carrying explosives and firearms in the village of Yatta, near Chevron, the Shin Bet said.
The men had plotted a series of attacks against Israel and the Palestinian Authority to begin in the coming days, and spent recent months preparing in a hideout. Alleged plots include an attempt to kidnap an IDF soldier, and bombings.
Security sources said more details would emerge in the course of the investigation. Additional members of the terrorism cell were still being sought.
