Report Finds NYC Anti-Truancy Effort Succeeded

NEW YORK (AP) —

A pilot anti-truancy program in New York City schools succeeded in cutting absenteeism, a report released Wednesday from Johns Hopkins University found, with the most effective component pairing truant students with mentors. The program caused students to gain an average of nearly two weeks in school per year.
