Brooklyn Jury Acquits Man Imprisoned for 24 Years
A Brooklyn jury on Monday acquitted a man who had been imprisoned for 24 years on a murder charge. Derrick Deacon had been convicted in the 1989 shooting death of Anthony Wynn during a robbery in a Flatbush apartment complex. The 58-year-old was granted a new trial in 2012 after an FBI cooperator identified a different man as the shooter and a separate witness recanted his testimony. It took a jury just nine minutes to declare him not guilty.
