A man armed with a flare gun who shot at Israeli civilians at Tapuach Junction in the Shomron on Thursday night was killed by an IDF soldier.

B’chasdei Hashem, no one else was hurt in the attack.

A soldier stationed in an IDF position near the Tapuach hitchhiking stop opened fired at the terrorist after he attacked the civilians.

On Friday, an Israeli couple barely escaped with their lives after their car was attached by a firebomb as they drove north toward Yerushalayim from Gush Etzion.

What should have been a routine drive turned into a nightmare for Zachy (Zakiel) and Na’ama Choory, a couple from the Gush Etzion region south of Yerushalayim. The couple was attacked by terrorists as they drove toward Yerushalayim, and a firebomb hurled at their car during the attack caused it to become engulfed in flames.

They were both burned; Na’ama Choory sustained moderate wounds, and Zachy lighter ones. They are being treated in a hospital in Yerushalayim.

Zachy Choory told IDF Radio on Sunday, “There was a tremendous boom, and we didn’t understand what had happened. Then I saw my wife start to catch fire. I saw her going up in flames. I saw the whole seat, the whole area where she was sitting, start to burn.

“The firebomb left trails of fire behind it, and as I tried to pull her toward me, I too was burned by the firebomb, which had fallen between our seats.”

It took several seconds to free Na’ama from her seat belt, he continued.

“When I got Na’ama out of the car, she and I started to put her out… Na’ama was screaming, ‘My stomach is burning.’ She could feel herself burning even after we put out the fire. I felt the burns a little, but she felt it over most of her body,” he added.

“My wife is recovering psychologically,” he reported. “Physically, we think it’s going to take a month or two.”

Fortunately, their young children were spared the ordeal, having just been dropped off at a day-care center before their parents left in the car.
