Driver Charged After Hitting Cows Crossing Road

A 21-year-old woman talking on her phone drove headfirst into a herd of cows crossing a rural road. She was charged with distracted driving, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and reckless driving.

The ironically named Daisy Cowit of Wawayanda was distracted by her cellphone when her SUV hit six cows near a dairy farm on Oct. 28. All the cows survived, but three suffered serious injuries. She nearly struck two farm workers walking across the road. She told police she only looked at her phone to see an incoming call.
