Ex-Mayor Dinkins in Hospital With Pneumonia
Former New York City mayor David Dinkins has been hospitalized with pneumonia at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
The city’s first black mayor was admitted Wednesday night after experiencing difficulty breathing. By Thursday, he was sounding much better.
Peter Johnson, a law partner of Dinkins, said the 86-year-old keeps a “breakneck schedule” teaching and supporting various charities. He noted that Dinkins hosted an event this week for Democratic mayoral nominee Bill de Blasio.
