Ambassador Oren Returns to Academe
Former Israeli ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren will be returning to academe in Israel, Haaretz reported on Monday.
Oren is joining the Lauder School of Government Diplomacy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, where he will be lecturing, the private college announced.
Before he went to Washington in 2009, Oren had pursued an academic career. He earned a Ph.D. in History and the Middle East from Princeton University, was a visiting professor at Harvard and Yale universities, and wrote several books on Israel and the Middle East.
Responding to the announcement, Oren said: “I am pleased and honored to join the Lauder School at the IDC Herzliya. The IDC is in the forefront of discussion on Israel’s foreign policy in public diplomacy and the media. Being part of the IDC will allow the continuance of my contribution to the strengthening of Israeli relations with the U.S. and the world, as to building the future leadership of Israel.”
