A Palestinian terrorist was shot and killed when caught attempting to break into an IDF base north of Yerushlayim on Thursday evening, according to media reports.

The Palestinian, Younis Obaidi from Beit Hanina, drove through the entrance barrier of the base when the guard on duty came over to check his identity.

The guard began to chase the tractor and yelled for him to stop but the driver continued, hitting vehicles, including a military jeep, parked inside the base.

An officer joined the first soldier and the two fired at the driver. Army physicians initially treated him before being pronounced dead.

The army said the soldiers felt they were in a life-threatening situation and opened fire on the tractor. An IDF soldier was lightly injured during the melee.

A large IDF force was immediately called to the scene.
