Markowitz Overjoyed at Brooklynite’s Fed Job
With President Barack Obama’s announcement of his nomination of Brooklyn native Janet Yellen to head the Federal Reserve, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz added his pun-filled hurray that a daughter of his beloved county will have one of the world’s most powerful economic policy-making jobs.
“For a long time, I’ve been shouting that I’m ‘Fed’ up with the boys’ club, that it’s time to bring women into our halls of leadership,” Markowitz said in a statement. “Well, after all my yellin’, we finally got Yellen! Who else but a Brooklynite to boost our nation’s economy?”
Yellen, who grew up in Bay Ridge, graduated from Fort Hamilton High School.
