In New Cookbook, Ann Romney Ribs Bloomberg
In a cookbook detailing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s comfort foods following his loss last year, Ann Romney takes a gentle swipe at Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The Romney Family Table: Sharing Home-Cooked Recipes and Favorite Traditions, featuring all-American recipes from meatloaf to apple crumb cake, takes on political overtones in several chapters.
Such as the entry for Grandmother Pottinger’s pancakes, which she made the morning after her husband lost to President Barack Obama. “There was so much batter left over that we decided to make pancakes for the Secret Service guys who were packing up to leave.”
Romney said that a family favorite is Fluffernutter, a type of marshmallow sandwich.
“Mayor Bloomberg probably has Fluff high on his list of substances to be banned in New York City,” she writes, “which, for me, would be an added incentive to keep it around.”
