Judge: Town Can’t Rezone to Prevent Mosque

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) -

In a decision that impacts all houses of worship in New Jersey, a federal judge ordered the town of Bridgewater to consider an application to build a mosque without applying restrictive new zoning rules. Lawyers for the Al Falah Center said the application met all requirements until new rules were adopted in March 2011. U.S. District Judge Michael Shipp noted that the community response to the application was “at a minimum, hostile.”
