Yuma Memorial Includes Piece From WTC Tower
A Yuma memorial to honor those lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks incorporates a 2-foot-long piece of steel from one of the World Trade Center’s twin towers.
The Yuma Sun reports that the memorial is being unveiled by the Yuma Fire Department during a Wednesday morning ceremony.
Parts of the ceremony are timed to coincide with the fall of the first tower.
Fire Department personnel and Yuma-area construction workers built the memorial. It’s based on original concept drawings by local artist Debra Erfert.
