NY Promotes Safety Service For Low-Income NYers
The state Public Service Commission is urging income-eligible consumers to sign up for a discount telephone service through a program aimed at making New Yorkers safer at home.
The Lifeline program provides discounts for monthly residential phone bills for basic telephone service.
PSC Chairwoman Audrey Zibelman says information about the program will be available at several Public Service Commission events to be held statewide this month.
New Yorkers already receiving some other benefits including Food Stamps, Veterans’ Disability, Supplementary Security Income and Home Energy Assistance Program help are eligible.
