Buono in Lakewood’s Tent City: ‘I Won’t Forget You’
The Democrat running for governor tells residents of Lakewood’s homeless encampment: “I will not forget you.”
Sen. Barbara Buono spent more than an hour Thursday afternoon talking with residents of the tent city, where about 80 people live in tents in the encampment in the woods off Route 9. The tour was designed to highlight the stories of people who have fallen through the cracks, which Buono blames on Gov. Chris Christie.
Residents of the encampment have agreed with government officials on a plan to move after they are found homes. So far, only three people have been found alternate housing.
