Christie Signs Law Targeting Texting While Driving
Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation ordering signs throughout New Jersey to remind drivers not to text and drive.
“Nikki’s Law” is named after Nikki Kellenyi, an 18-year-old state resident who was killed in an April 2012 vehicle crash. Investigators say it was “inconclusive” whether illegal cell phone use played a role in the accident. But the crash spurred his family to start a nonprofit group to raise awareness about the dangers of texting and driving.
