JetBlue Airways Corp. said Monday that traffic rose 7.3 percent in July, and a key revenue measure also climbed.
JetBlue said that revenue for every seat flown one mile increased 5 percent. The figure rises when airlines fill more seats or charge higher average fares. American Airlines on Monday reported a 4 percent increase.
Passengers on JetBlue flew 3.52 billion miles last month, up from 3.28 billion in July 2012.
JetBlue boosted passenger-carrying capacity by 6.8 percent. The average flight was 87.6 percent full, compared with 87.2 percent in July 2012.
Shares of New York-based JetBlue rose 8 cents to close at $6.36.
