A firearms manufacturer says it’s moving its corporate offices out of New York partly because of the state’s strict new gun control law.
Kahr Firearms Group of Pearl River is the first gunmaker in the state to blame the law for its departure. A spokesman said the company felt uncertain about its future after the law passed in January. He said it wants a friendlier environment.
Kahr will move its 10-person corporate staff to Pike County, Pa., next year. The company also expects to build a new factory there — with 80-100 jobs — within five years. They said they were close to finalizing a deal for land in Orange County, N.Y., before the law was passed.
