LG Unveils Large G2 Phone Free of Side Buttons

NEW YORK (AP) —

LG Electronics has unveiled a new smartphone that moves buttons, such as volume controls, to the rear.

LG says that the larger phones have become, the more difficult it is for people to use side buttons. LG Electronics Inc.’s new G2 phone has a screen that measures 5.2 inches diagonally, larger than many other leading phones. LG says rear buttons will be easier to access with one’s index fingers and will result in fewer dropped phones when people fiddle with volume while making calls.

The G2’s 13-megapixel camera comes with stabilizing image technology for better low-light shots with less blurring.

LG also promises good sound.

The company said Wednesday that the new phone will be released over the next two months, starting in its home market of South Korea.
