Late-Night Soccer in Flatbush Park Outrages Residents

BROOKLYN (Hamodia) -

Erasmus Field on McDonald Avenue is the focus of community outrage ever since a soccer team has begun using it for nighttime practice and post-game socializing.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) has called on Education Chancellor Dennis Walcott to rescind the permit granted to the International United Soccer League that allows them to play soccer until midnight nearly every summer night. He said that his office has received numerous complaints from parents who have a difficult time putting their children to bed as crowds react to the soccer games.

“Why would the DOE be so insensitive as to grant a permit to any group until midnight in this park?” Hikind said. “They had no right to do this without first consulting with the community.”
