Metals Close Broadly Lower, Crop Prices Mixed

NEW YORK (AP) —

Metals prices closed broadly lower Friday, and crop prices ended mixed.

Gold for August delivery fell $7.30 to $1,321.50 an ounce. Silver for September delivery lost 38.3 cents to $19.771 an ounce.

September copper dropped 8 cents to $3.1055 a pound. Platinum for October delivery fell $25.10 to $1,422.80 an ounce, and September palladium fell $16.75 to $724 an ounce.

Soybeans for November delivery rose 4.5 cents, to settle at $12.285 a bushel. December corn fell 2.75 cents to $4.76 a bushel. September wheat edged up a penny to $6.5025 a bushel.
