Newark Airport to Get Four New Taxiways
The Port Authority will spend more than $97 million to construct four new taxiways designed to help reduce ground delays at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The taxiways will service the longest runway at Newark, which handles about 200,000 flights a year. The runway itself will be repaved and receive new lighting and electrical systems.
The Port Authority estimates it will save 30 seconds per flight. Work is slated to begin in 2014.
