Ex-Cop Loses Disability Pension After Media Spot
A former New Jersey police officer has been stripped of his disability pension after he was seen in the media running after a monster truck and wrestling.
The state Police and Firemen’s Retirement System voted unanimously that former Hamilton Township officer Joseph Derrico is no longer permanently disabled after a board of doctors examined him.
Derrico cannot return to his old job because he resigned in 2010 at 43 with disciplinary charges pending. His tax-free pension was $70,000 per year.
