NJ Congressman Looks to Curb Helicopter Tours

HOBOKEN, N.J. (AP) -

A New Jersey congressman is looking to ban helicopter tours on his state’s side of the Hudson River. Rep. Albio Sires, a Democrat, says the low-flying aircraft create constant noise and safety issues for residents and he requested a meeting with the Federal Aviation Administration.

No one was injured when a sightseeing helicopter lost power and made an emergency landing on the river near 79th Street by the New York City Marina on June 30.
