FBI Releases Koch Documents

NEW YORK (AP) -

The FBI has for the first time released materials from its files on former New York Mayor Ed Koch, who died earlier this year at age 88. The papers don’t offer any bombshells, focusing mostly on an investigation of an alleged plot in 1977 to circulate fake letters that tried to paint then-Congressman Koch as a racist.

A summary of an FBI interview says a suspect in the case denied any involvement. But he also told agents he hated Koch and would beat him up if he got the chance.
