Fire in Yerushalayim Forces Evacuation

Firefighters seen trying to extinguish a fire which broke out near a monastery in the center of Yerushalayim on Tuesday. Police suspect arson. The fire necessitated evacuation of the nearby monastery and a neighboring Scouts building, The Jerusalem Post reported. Nine firefighting units were dispatched to put out the blaze. Smoke billowed across the capital’s skyline, enveloping the Knesset building nearby. Haim Hazaz Street and Rupin Boulevard were closed due to the smoke, police said. No injuries were reported.
