NJ Dems Gather for Emergency Unity Meeting

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) —

New Jersey Democrats called an urgent meeting to unify the fractured party before the fall elections, and pretty much everyone showed up.

The entire Democratic congressional delegation, three of the four Democrats running for U.S. Senate, and legislative leaders from across the state were among more than 400 people who filled a ballroom at a New Brunswick hotel on Saturday.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono has experienced little affection from the party since she decided to take on a longshot bid against Republican Gov. Chris Christie, so state chairman John Currie called the meeting to help heal intra-party divisions.
