Lawmakers to Vote on New NYPD Oversight

NEW YORK (AP) —

New York City lawmakers are set to vote on the most expansive plans in years to impose new oversight on police at a City Council meeting Wednesday night. That make it easier to bring racial profiling claims against the nation’s largest police force.

Mayoral vetoes are expected. So are override votes. Sponsors are optimistic the overrides will succeed.
