Caller Suggested Naming New Cabs ‘Bloomy Cars’
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is celebrating two court victories on the taxi front.
The state’s highest court said Thursday that livery cab drivers should be able to pick up passengers who hail them on streets in the outer boroughs and in upper Manhattan.
Another court said smartphone apps could be used to summon yellow cabs for now.
Bloomberg praised both rulings during his weekly radio show on WOR Friday.
A caller to the show said the new outer-borough cabs should be called “Bloomberg cars.”
Host John Gambling suggested “Bloomy cars.”
Bloomberg responded, “Well, you’re nice to say so.”
London’s bikes are sometimes called “Boris Bikes” after Mayor Boris Johnson, and Bloomberg has previously joked about naming the city’s new fleet “Mike’s Bikes” after him, according to Politicker.
