Israel Day Parade Includes NY Mayoral Candidates

NEW YORK (AP) —

New York’s Fifth Avenue was a sea of white and blue for the Israel Day Parade on Sunday.

More than 30,000 marchers walked with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the city’s mayoral candidates.

In the evening, the Empire State Building beamed the Israeli colors of blue and white. Security was tight along Fifth Avenue. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly watched over the lineup and helicopters hovered overhead.
