Pilot Walks Away From Crash On Ridge in Ellenville

ELLENVILLE, N.Y. (AP) —

The 23-year-old woman pilot of a small plane walked away from a crash on a ridge in Ellenville with just minor bruises.

The pilot, whose name hasn’t been released, had taken off from a small airport in Ulster County at about 11 a.m. Thursday and was trying to climb over the Shawangunk Ridge when the single-engine Piper P-28 stalled and came down in some trees.

She was able to climb down and was found by crews sent to the scene. Federal aviation safety officials are investigating the accident.
