Hackers Assault Haifa Water System
An Israeli security expert says Syrian hackers tried to break into the computers of Haifa’s water system.
Yitzhak Ben-Yisrael, Israel’s former cyber security adviser, said in a lecture that a group calling itself “the Syrian Electronic Army” had launched the failed attack two weeks ago.
Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav said, “We are not aware of any such attempt by Syria, but we do know that Haifa … is a strategic target for our enemies, and therefore we keep training and preparing for emergencies.”
