Grand Central Terminal Gets Backup Generators

NEW YORK (AP) —

Grand Central Terminal has gotten an infrastructure boost to help in the event of storms that cause blackouts.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that a nearly $17 million project to install two emergency diesel generators at the terminal has been completed.

Cuomo said the project was one of several measures he authorized to help New York deal with extreme weather such as Superstorm Sandy. About three-fourths of the project’s funding came from the federal government.
