Mobile Van to Provide Free Legal Advice

BROOKLYN

The New York Legal Assistance Group will be on hand next Tuesday to provide local residents with access to free legal help from a van parked in the center of Boro Park.

The mobile van will be outside the offices of Councilman David Greenfield (D-Brooklyn) at 4424 16th Avenue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 7.

The NYLAG mobile van program was launched last year. It bills their 40-foot van as “the country’s first-ever legal services office and courtroom on wheels.” The van makes its rounds throughout the five boroughs, focusing on areas with limited public transportation and on assisting low-income New Yorkers who face obstacles such as health and mobility issues and childcare concerns.

Attorneys will provide free confidential legal advice on issues having to do with government programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps, housing and other public assistance programs.

Interested residents should call (718) 853-2704 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
