NJ Man Finds Fish Alive in Swimming Pool
A New Jersey man found a school of small fish alive in his swimming pool nearly six months after Superstorm Sandy flooded his neighborhood.
Robert Castellano had uncovered the pool behind his Belmar home to get it ready for the season when he saw the 15 fish, which he believes are minnows.
Castellano tells the Asbury Park Press he winterized the pool with chemicals in September. He believes the fish have been surviving on algae since flooding from the October storm submerged the yard in three feet of water. He’s amazed they’re still alive.
Castellano plans to trap the fish and return them to nearby Silver Lake, one block from his home.
Hundreds of pounds of dead fish were found in a high school two blocks away after Sandy.
