Israel Remembers Its Fallen
Israel today marks the Day of Remembrance for Israeli Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism. Ceremonies began Sunday evening, and families will be visiting the kevarim throughout Monday.
According to figures released by the Defense Ministry, Israel has lost 23,085 soldiers since the pre-state yishuv in 1860.
In recent years the victims of terror have been included in the ceremonies on this day. A total of 2,493 people have been killed in terror attacks.
Independence Day begins on Monday evening.
