Mrs. Martha Melohn, a”h
As we go to print, Hamodia has learned of the passing Tuesday of Mrs. Martha Melohn, a”h, who along with her husband Joseph distributed millions of dollars to an array of charities, institutions and yeshivos through their Joseph and Martha Melohn Tzedaka Fund. She was 78.
The levayah is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shomrei Hadaas chapels in Boro Park.
Born Malka Perel Schreiber, a descendant of the Chasam Sofer and Ksav Sofer, in Pressburg, she survived the Holocaust and its attendant concentration camps, and emigrated to London. She later moved to New York and married Yosef Melohn, who became a successful real estate agent. Their fund helped thousands of people and dozens of institutions.
She is survived by her three sons, Avrohom Moshe, Yaakov Tzvi and Arye Eliezer (Leon).
