More Companies to Release Political Spending

ALBANY (AP) —

Snapple, Harley-Davidson and Southwest Airlines are among the Fortune 500 companies that are agreeing to disclose more information about spending on political causes.

A month ago, PepsiCo agreed to the disclosures sought by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

DiNapoli had been using his authority as the trustee of New York’s $152 billion pension fund to pressure companies into giving its shareholders more information about the money it spends on lobbying and other political activities.
