New Jersey Officials to Coordinate Anti-Fraud Efforts

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) —

New Jersey officials have established a statewide working group to coordinate fraud-related investigations and enforcement actions related to Superstorm Sandy.

Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa says the Statewide Sandy Fraud Working Group will coordinate data-gathering, investigations and the prosecution of criminal or civil fraud claims related to disaster recovery at the state, county and local levels.

The group includes representatives from several state divisions including criminal justice, consumer affairs, insurance fraud prosecutors, the state police and the Atlantic, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean County prosecutor’s offices.

Victims or witnesses to suspected Sandy-related fraud, including incidents related to home repairs, insurance, charitable solicitations or other areas, can contact the group’s hotline at (855) SANDY39.
