Doc Facing Bomb Charges Has Medical License Suspended
New Jersey officials have temporarily suspended the medical license of an unemployed physician charged late last year with possessing large amounts of chemicals commonly used for making bombs.
The state Board of Medical Examiners took the action Tuesday against 60-year-old Roberto Rivera, who remains jailed on $1 million bail. The suspension will remain in effect until the board reviews the outcome of further hearings in the case.
Rivera has pleaded not guilty to charges of recklessly creating a risk of widespread injury, unlawful possession of a destructive device, and unlawful possession of an assault firearm, a large-capacity ammunition magazine and a stun gun.
