Jewish Cemetery Vandalized Near Paris

A Jewish cemetery near Paris was desecrated by a person who vandalized eight matzeivos, a French watchdog on anti-Semitism said Wednesday.

In a press release, the National Bureau of Vigilance Against Antisemitism (BNVCA) said that they had learned of the desecration at the cemetery of Noisy-le-Sec in Seine Saint Denis, north of Paris.

A young woman of African descent, said to be between 16 and 20 years of age, who often used to wander around the cemetery grounds is suspected of being connected to the vandalism, Sammy Ghozlan, president of the BNVCA, said.

Ghozlan added, “The cowardly hatred that is proliferating today is driving those who hate Jews to attack not only the living, but also the dead.

“We condemn this vandalism and ask that everything be done to identify the perpetrator and to find their motive.”

BNVCA has lodged a criminal complaint with police over the incident, Ghozlan added.
