Abbas Refuses to Consider U.S. Peace Plan

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas again slammed the door on peace talks, declaring that the Palestinians will not accept any U.S. plan to resolve the conflict with Israel, The Jerusalem Post reported.

“We honestly will not wait for anything from them, and we will not accept anything from them,” Abbas said of the Americans at a conference in Ramallah on Wednesday.

The PA has been boycotting U.S. officials since President Donald Trump’s announcement recognizing Yerushalayim as Israel’s capital and the move of the embassy to that capital.

Abbas’ latest statement was at odds with his comment on Monday to the Fatah Central Committee that he would be willing to consider American proposals under certain conditions. For example, if Washington would reverse policy and endorse the two-state solution and recognize east Yerushalayim as the capital of “the State of Palestine.”
