Turkey Issues Detention Warrant for Another U.S. Consulate Worker

Turkish authorities issued a detention warrant for another U.S. consulate worker on Monday, Turkish media said.

Broadcaster NTV said the suspect was still being sought by security officials and his wife and child were being questioned by Turkish police. It gave no reason for the detention warrant.

Turkish authorities had no immediate comment. Turkey’s justice minister earlier said he he no information about a new warrant being issued.

On Sunday, the U.S. mission in Turkey and the Turkish mission in Washington cut back visa services after a U.S. consulate employee was arrested in Turkey last week.
