The condition of Niv Nechemiah, the 43-year-old who was stabbed at least 15 times last Wednesday by a terrorist in a supermarket in Yavneh and was seriously wounded, has vastly improved over recent days and his family said Sunday that, b’chasdei Shamayim, he had regained consciousness.

Nechemiah had been listed in critical condition when he was brought to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot Wednesday after a 19-year-old Arab, Ismail Abu-Aram, stabbed him in his upper body.

The attack took place in a Shufersal supermarket in Yavneh.

In a letter thanking the hospital staff for their devotion to Niv, the family asks for continued tefillos on his behalf. Although he has regained consciousness, they note that he still has difficulty responding and communicating with them or the medical staff.
