NYPD Looking for Two Men Who Stole $12K of Cigarettes From Brooklyn Drug Stores

BROOKLYN – The NYPD is searching for two men who stole a total of $12,000 worth of cigarettes in 10 separate incidents in June, all occurring at drug stores in Brooklyn. Nine of the robberies occurred at Rite Aids, and one at a Walgreen’s. In one of the incidents, a store employee suffered a minor stab wound as he attempted to stop the thieves.

Disgraced Rochester Judge Released From Jail

ROCHESTER – A judge who was jailed for 60 days for violating conditions of her drunken driving conviction was released Thursday morning after a month in prison, The Associated Press reported. City Court Judge Leticia Astacio, 36, in on probation for three years.

Heat Index Approaches Triple Digits in Parts of NYC Area

NEW YORK – It’s hot and getting hotter in the New York City area, The Associated Press reported. Temperatures Thursday rose to the upper 90s, which combined with humidity made it feel like 104 degrees. Forecasters say cooler air will move into the region on Friday.

NJ Transit Set to Add Dozens of New Trains, Buses

TRENTON – NJ Transit will be getting 113 new trains and buses as part of a new spending plan adopted by the board of directors Wednesday, The Associated Press reported. The single-level cars which frequently break down will be replaced with multilevel cars which have two-person seats instead of the disliked three-persons.
