IDF Reserves to be Compensated for Financial Losses During Service
Israel’s National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) has reached an agreement with the Ministry of Defense to provide compensation for IDF reserve soldiers who suffer financial loss to their businesses during military service.
According to the agreement, reservists will receive 25 percent of their average income from privately-owned businesses, in addition to their regular payment for reserve duty.
The compensation will be awarded retroactively from 2016 to 2020, pending approval by the Labor Committee.
Yishai Falk of Bituach Leumi said: “As a reservist myself, I am well-acquainted with the plight of independently employed soldiers who suffer irrecoverable financial losses due to their military service. I am happy that I was privileged to play a role in bringing about this historic change.”
