Council OKs Bill Renaming Street for Lubavitch Rebbetzin
The City Council approved a bill to co-name a part of Lefferts Avenue for the late Lubavitcher Rebbetzin, a”h. Mayor Bill de Blasio has indicated he will sign it into law in the coming weeks and a sign unveiling is expected shortly afterward.
The avenue between Brooklyn and New York avenues will be co-named “Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson Square” after the Rebbetzin of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Harav Menachem Mendel Schneerson, zt”l.
The street was chosen since the Beth Rivkah girls school is there.
The Rebbetzin, who passed away in 1988, was the daughter of the previous Rebbe, Harav Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, zt”l.
The bill was sponsored by Councilman Mathieu Eugene.
