IDF forces responded Thursday afternoon to shots that were fired at Israeli positions by Gaza Arab terrorists. The terrorists fired at an IDF patrol that was doing work on the border fence, and shots were fired at an IDF tractor, damaging it. In response, Israeli forces fired back at Hamas positions in Gaza. IDF helicopters and tanks fired at several Hamas positions, destroying at least two, according to Gaza sources.

On Wednesday, the Red Alert early warning system sounded in several areas of southern Israel, as a rocket fired by Gaza Arab terrorists landed in an open area near Ashkelon. IDF forces responded by bombing Hamas targets. Gaza sources said that four local residents were injured. In a statement, the IDF said that it “holds Hamas accountable for any attacks from the Gaza Strip that jeopardize the safety of Israelis and breach Israel’s sovereignty.”

Over the weekend, Gaza terrorists fired a Kassam rocket at Israel. The rocket fell in an open area in the Gaza border area. There were no injuries, and no damage was reported. As the rocket fell in an open area, the Red Alert warning system did not sound. The IDF responded to the last rocket with heavy shelling of Hamas positions in Gaza, and a similar response to any other rockets fired is anticipated . In addition to the rockets fired from Gaza at the southern Negev, several rockets were fired from Sinai at Eilat. The Iron Dome rocket interception system neutralized them. Islamic State terrorists took responsibility for the Eilat attack.
